Howard S. Lamb, age 84, a resident of Janesville, passed away early Thursday morning, June 15, 2017 at the Agrace Center for Hospice & Palliative Care in Janesville, surrounded by his family. He was born May 11, 1933 in Janesville, the son of the late Stuart J. & Alice (Heimstreet) Lamb. He attended schools in Janesville, and was a graduate of Janesville High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country during the Korean Conflict.
On June 23, 1956 he married the former Arlene A. Bier at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Janesville.
Howard worked for over 32 years for General Motors Corp. until his retirement. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local 95. After his retirement, he and Arlene moved to a home they purchased on Lake Alexander outside of Merrill. They lived in Merrill for over 23 years, moving back to be closer their daughters and their families.
He enjoyed watching Western movies, and he also was a very avid Green Bay Packer fan! Family was his greatest joy, and he was a very devoted husband, Dad, Grandpa, and Great-Grandpa! He was absolutely adored by his “5 J’s”!
Howard is survived by his loving wife of nearly 61 years, Arlene; his 5 daughters, Jackie (Bill) Carlson, Judy (Jerry) McCann, both of Janesville, Jean (Steve) Silha, of Edgerton, WI, Joan (Dan) Oldenburg, of Shopiere, WI, and Jane (Tom) Fuller, also of Janesville; his brother, David (Paula) Lamb, of Afton; his sister, Janet (Dave) Hart, of Florida; his 9 beloved grandchildren, Andy Carlson, Amy Carlson, Lindsay McCann, Brent (Karissa) Silha, Nicole (Jason Porter) Silha, Danielle Oldenburg, Nick (Meghan) Oldenburg, Morgan Fuller, and Kyle Fuller; his 3 dear great-grandchildren, Gracelynn, Nicholas, and Brooklyn; and by nieces, nephews, and many friends. Besides his parents, Howard was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Joyce Lynn; his twin grandson, Ryan and Scott Oldenburg; his sister, Jean Burns; and by his brother, James Lamb.
A Memorial Visitation will take place from 5:30 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES.
