Roger A. Swenson, age 77, a longtime resident of Janesville, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 1, 2017 at Rock Haven. He was born September 6, 1939 in Edgerton, the son of the late Alf Theodore and Arlene (Plum) Swenson. On December 4, 1965 he married the former Raylene J. Conley in Edgerton. She preceded him in death on January 5, 2016. Roger served his country in the U.S. Army, and was Honorably Discharged.
Roger was employed as a Deputy Sheriff for the Rock County Sheriff’s Office for over 25 years until his retirement in 1993.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church. Roger was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 197, and was a longtime member of the Yahara Fishing Club.
He enjoyed fishing, was a NASCAR fan, and enjoyed tinkering in his garage and basement on various projects!
Roger is survived by his 2 sons, Roger W. (Shelly) Swenson, of Oregon, WI, and their daughter, Hayley Marie; and Daniel C. (Dawn) Swenson, of Janesville, and their daughter, Erica Rae; his nephews, Sean and Jason Conley, and by other relatives and friends. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Ann.
A Memorial Visitation celebrating Roger’s life will be held from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES.
