Obituary for Mary Ann Bier
Mary Ann Bier, age 64, of Powell, WY, formerly of Janesville, WI and Milton, WI died on Monday, August 7, 2017 in Powell, WY. Mary Ann was born in Janesville, WI on December 22, 1952, the second child of ten children born to Alfred and Eleanor (Marcinkowski) Bier. Mary Ann graduated from Milton High School in 1971 and attended UW Whitewater, where she studied photography and biology. While in Milton, Mary Ann delivered the Wisconsin State Journal for many years and later worked as a rural US Postal carrier. When she moved to Wyoming in 1994, she continued employment as a route carrier retiring in 2015.
Mary Ann was a very down to earth and independent woman, who took pride in protecting the environment. She loved the outdoors, using her green thumb to tend to her flower and vegetable gardens. She also served as water master in her sub-division over seeing water usage in her area. Mary Ann was such a likeable, loving, kind, caring and generous person, that the neighborhood children thought of her as their “grandmother.” Staying in touch and spending time with her family was the most important thing to Mary Ann. She looked forward to returning to Wisconsin to see her young grandson, her daughter, and the rest of her family. Her smile, great sense of humor, and free spirit will be missed by all who had the opportunity to meet such an amazing person.
She is survived by her daughter: Anne (Maynard Tourdot) Bier of Reedsburg, WI; grandson who she adored: Alfie J. Tourdot; her mother: Eleanor Bier of Janesville; and her siblings: John (Mary) Bier of Janesville, Theresa Cummings of Milton, Eileen (Dale) Zimmerman of Janesville, Gloria Singer of Janesville, Joan (Jeff) Shadel of Milton, Ed Bier of Milton, Bob (Jill) Bier of Avalon, WI, Barb (Mark) Crouse of Janesville and Patty (Doug) Clark of Milton; many nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews; and many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Alfred.
A Celebration Honoring and Remembering Mary Ann will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Whitcomb – Lynch Funeral Home.
