Obituary for Michael Rau

Michael Rau
Michael J. Rau, age 61, of Edgerton, passed away Friday morning, September 22, 2017 at the Wm. Middleton V.A. Medical Center in Madison. He was born July 24, 1956 in Janesville, the son of Robert and Mary Ann (Robejcek) Rau. He attended school in Janesville, and was a graduate of Parker High School, Class of 1974. After high school, he followed in his father’s footsteps, and enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he proudly served for over 20 years. After his retirement, he returned to the Janesville/Edgerton area. On June 24, 2000, he married the former Susana S. Sebastian. Mike was known for his fun teasing and simple attitude towards life. He loved landscaping and tending to his vegetable gardens. He was known to produce the best cantaloupes around! He was a man who took pride in everything he did. He loved the Packers, going out for Friday Fish Fries, attending Filipino parties, and the occasional visit to the casino!

He leaves behind his loving wife, Susana Rau; his four daughters: Jennifer, Jenny Rose, Lisa, and Cindy; his two sons, Mike and Mark; his mother, Mary Ann Rau; his brother, Bruce Rau; his sister, Sandra Cronin; nieces, nephews, and countless friends. He was welcomed into Heaven by his father, Robert Rau; his sisters: Doris Cronin, and Betty Lou; and by his beloved cat, Baby.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 825 S. Van Buren St., Stoughton, WI, with his dear friend, Todd Kienitz officiating. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday at the church. Military Rites accorded by the V.F.W. Kienow-Hilt Post 1621 will immediately follow the service. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials to his family would be appreciated.

Mike will forever be in our hearts and memories. Please come and help honor this wonderful son, husband, father, brother, and friend. Please consider wearing white in honor of the Filipino culture that Mike loved so much!
