Barry A. Struebin, age 57, of Janesville died on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at home from complications due to Parkinson’s Disease, that he has fought courageously for over 12 years. He was born in Janesville on September 16, 1960, the son of Ronald and Myrna (Crawford) Struebin. Barry attended Madison Elementary, Franklin Junior High, and graduated from Parker High School in 1979. After graduation, Barry started work at Simmons Mattress, where he has worked for over 32 years, retiring due to his declining health on January 20, 2012. While working at Simmons, Barry met his future wife, Denise L. Ronan and they were married on June 27, 1998 in Beloit.
Barry was a very athletic man, who was involved in competitive power weight lifting in the area for many years, winning numerous trophies along the way. He enjoyed camping with his family throughout Wisconsin, as well as spending time at his mother and father in-law’s cabin in Yuba, WI. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, turkey hunting, and being with his family enjoying the outdoors. Barry was also a huge sports fan who was always cheering for the Badgers and the Green Bay Packers. Known for his red hair, big heart, sarcastic humor, and humble ways, Barry was a quiet, genuine, and true gentleman. He was great husband, father, son-in-law and “Papa”, who was always teaching his children the responsibilities that they hold in life.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife: Denise; and his children who he was very proud of: Brianna (Chris) Harry, Emilee Struebin, and Riley Struebin; grandchildren who he truly adored: Kase, Nicholas, and Elizabeth; his parents: Ronald and Myrna Struebin of Janesville; his brothers and sister: Mark (Sue) Struebin of Janesville, Curt (Brad Hinrichs) Struebin of Chicago, Mary Ellen (Rob) Conroy of Janesville, and Scott (Pam) Struebin of Janesville. He is further survived by his mother-in-law: Joyce Ronan of Beloit; brother-in-laws: Tim (Robin Hart) Ronan of Beloit, and Mike (Roxanne) Ronan of Troy, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends; and his dog who was his faithful companion: Abby. Barry was predeceased by his brother: Joel Struebin, grandparents, and his father-in-law: Midge Ronan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at St. William Catholic Church with Fr. Brian Dulli officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Whitcomb – Lynch Funeral home and again on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Memorials would be appreciated if they were made to Barry’s family for a memorial to be established later.
