Roger W. “Bugger” Bauer, 87 passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family in the early morning of Feb. 9, 2018. He was born March 22, 1930, in Janesville, WI, the son of the late Albert and Vila (Dunwiddie) Bauer. He attended Janesville High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. Roger was a glazier for 37 years, completing his apprenticeship with Handy Glass Co. in 1956, and then was employed by City Glass & Key, Congress Radiator and Glass, and lastly with National Glass Co. in Beloit until his retirement in 1993. He was also owner of Monterey Glass Co., Janesville, WI, from 1965-1967.
He married the former Joann S. Ingala on May 3, 1958 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Janesville. Roger was a member of the VFW and Moose Club of Janesville. He loved fishing near the Monterey Dam, where he spent many years as a young boy. He also enjoyed golfing, cheering on his Green Bay Packers, was a "loyal and die-hard" fan of the Chicago Cubs, and was fortunate to see their World Series Championship in 2016. Go Cubbies! He also enjoyed his visits from his nephew, Steve (Linda) Bauer, Delavan, WI.
Roger is survived by his daughters: Debra (Mark) Saunders, of Janesville, and Teresa(Doug) Henning, Crystal Lake, IL., along with his three grandchildren: Dan Saunders, Janesville, WI, Mandy (Matt) Heinzmann, Rockville, MD and Emily Henning, Crystal Lake, IL. He is further survived by many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joann, his parents and brothers, Merlin, Cecil, and Arland (Archie) Bauer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES. Entombment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will take place from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday at the FUNERAL HOME.
Roger’s family would like to extend a "heartfelt thank you" to Eilene Freeman, who was a loving friend to our dad, along with the doctors, nurses and wonderful heath care staff at Cedar Crest for all of the loving care, support and assistance given to Roger and his family.
