Obituary for Merlin Knutson

Merlin Knutson
Merlin E. Knutson, age 87, of Janesville, died on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Rock Haven Nursing Home, Janesville, surrounded by his family. He was born in Janesville on June 1, 1930, the son of Martin and Edith (Foslin) Knutson. Merlin enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country from 1948 to 1952, during the Korean War. He married Patricia J. Christianson on March 21, 1961, in Woodstock, IL. Merlin loved singing/performing, watching TV, (especially Westerns and 1940 musicals) and taking his daily nap.
Merlin is survived by his loving wife, Patricia of 57 years this month; 3 children: Don Parsons of Janesville, Julie (Darwin) Hawkinson of Beloit and Marcy (Michael) Stowe of Seattle, WA; 5 grandchildren: Joshua and Ben Parsons, Michael Martin Knutson Retzlaff and Evelyn and Adelaide Stowe; great grandson, Zander Parsons; brother, Gerald Knutson of Janesville; and Greg and Sally Wolfe and Cal and Billie Jo Calkins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
At Merlin’s request No Services will be held. Whitcomb-Lynch Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Janesville is assisting the family.
