Layla Rebecca Burke, age 7, of Janesville died from an unexpected sudden illness on March 26, 2018 at Mercyhealth Hospital & Trauma Center. She was born in Ft. Worth, TX on September 21, 2010. Layla joined the family of Jeffrey and Rebecca (Austin) Burke in November of 2011 and they became her forever family in August of 2013. Along with her family, Layla attended New Life Assembly of God Church, where she participated in the Children’s Choir and was active with the Prims Club. Layla was in the first grade at Monroe Elementary School and was involved with the Good News Club.
Layla enjoyed playing games, dancing, and playing school with her sister and cousins. She was a very competitive, feisty, strong willed little girl who brought joy to those who knew her. When anyone arrived at her home, Layla was always there to greet them with a smile and invite them to play along with her.
She will be dearly missed by her family; her parents: Jeff and Rebecca; and her brother and sister: Leo and Elizabeth; her grandparents who adored her: Russ and Colleen Austin of Janesville, and Jim and Patricia Burke of Janesville; and her great-grandmother: Esther Grenzow of Monroe, WI. Layla is further survived by her aunts, uncles, and cousins: Steve and Nicole Austin and their children: Cailyn, Emily and Abi of Janesville, Matt and Amy Austin and their children: Jack and Joey of Janesville, Andrew and Sheri Austin and their children: Ian, Alena, Annabelle, and Daniel of St. Louis, MO, Laura and Ron Williams and their children: Caleb, Lauron, Mae, and Zoe of Janesville, and Crystal and Josh Nunn and their child: Burkelee of San Diego, CA.; her very close and special friend: Eli; and her many friends at her school.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at New Life Assembly of God Church with Rev. Dr. Jason Karampatsos officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
