Obituary for Joseph Osmond

Joseph Osmond
Joseph F. Osmond, age 76, of Janesville died on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Agrace Center for Hospice & Palliative Care in Janesville. He was born in Janesville on June 2, 1942, the son of the late Eugene and Agnes (Shea) Osmond. On June 1, 1963 in Janesville, Joe married Brenda J. Steele and together they had five children. She predeceased him on October 20, 2006. Joe later married Bonnie J. Hilt on May 6, 2010. Joe retired from GMAD in 2000, where he was an active member of the UAW Local 95 and he was also a member of St. William Catholic Church.
Joe was involved in writing about the history of UAW Local 95 that was later published. His hobbies included working on cars, bird watching, attending car shows, and traveling. His most important time was attending and cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting and school events, as a proud grandpa. Joe and Bonnie also enjoyed spending winters in Panama City Beach, FL, where they made many friends. Joe was a very compassionate, kind, caring, strong, and a genuine true gentleman, who will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife: Bonnie; and his five children: Julie (Tony) Coulter of Janesville, Mike (Amy) Osmond of Janesville, Paul (Shelly) Osmond of Janesville, Mary Casper of Greenfield, WI, and David Osmond of Evansville; step-children: Shelly Curtis of Rockton, IL and Pam (Mike) Beam of Ettrick, WI; grandchildren who he adored: Brittany, Morgan, Kelsey, Samantha, Carolynn (Perryn), John, Cullen, Alec, Connor, Alan, Audrey, Brandon, Cameron, Alex, Julia, and Jenna; and great-granddaughter: Paisley. He is further survived by two brothers: John (Reta) Osmond of Hot Springs Village, AR and Tom (Phyllis) Osmond of Janesville; brothers and sisters-in-law: Frank (Gerry) Hilt, Chuck (Dag) Hilt, Bill (Cheri) Hilt, Tom (Beth) Hilt, and Frani Tainter; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his first wife Brenda and his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings: Gene Osmond, Mary Osmond, and Bob Osmond.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the Whitcomb-Lynch Funeral Home with Fr. Jim Leeser officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials would be appreciated if they were made to Agrace Hospice.
A very warm and heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital & Clinic and the staff at Agrace Center for Hospice & Palliative Care in Janesville for the compassion, care, and love given to Joe and his family during his final journey. All of you are true Angels!
