Beret Greenwood (Rasmussen)
Beret R. Greenwood, age 74, a longtime resident of Janesville, WI, passed away Monday afternoon, August 27, 2018 at her home. She was born June 5, 1944 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of the late John & Edna (Selje) Rasmussen. On February 1, 1969 she was married to Ronald J. Greenwood in Eau Claire, WI.
Beret worked as a teachers’ aide in the Janesville School District and retired after working as an aide at Parker High School. She had also been employed by Prent Corp. Beret also volunteered at Lincoln Elementary School in their library.
She was a longtime active member of St. John Lutheran Church. She attended Bible Study and crafted countless prayer shawls. She was a bell ringer in their Bell Choir.
In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Her greatest love was her family, and she will be remembered as a very loving and devoted wife, mom, grandma and sister!
She is survived by her husband, Ronald; her 2 children, Kenneth J. (Becky) Greenwood, of Janesville, and Andrea (C.J.) Hayes, of Evansville; her 4 grandchildren, Jeff, Samantha, Jordan, and Cecelia; her 2 great-grandchildren, Mila and Gavin; her brother, John A. (Maripat) Rasmussen; her step-sister Kay Ramsey; her step-brother John (Ruth) Hartzell; her sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Greg) Cowan; and by nieces, nephews, and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Joyce Hafner; by her step-mother, Marie Rasmussen; and by her step-brother Thomas Hartzell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 31, 2018 at ST. JOHN LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 N. Parker Dr., with Rev. Bond Haldeman officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia Twsp. Visitation will take place from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, or from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. on Friday at the CHURCH.
