Obituary for Richard W. Byrd

Richard W.  Byrd
Richard W. “Rich” Byrd, age 61, of Milton, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in St. Louis County, MO. Rich was born April 21, 1957 in Chicago, IL, the son of George R. & Mary Lee (Gill) Byrd. He attended schools in Chicago and Rolling Meadows, IL, and then started a long career in trucking and transportation. He was a driver for several trucking firms, and then held the position of Terminal Manager. At the time of his passing Rich was driving for Schneider National Trucking Co.
On October 2, 1976 he married Jeri L. Wente in Palatine, IL.
Rich loved spending time with his family, but especially cherished the time spent with his 2 grandsons, Dale and James! Rich loved his profession as a driver, which he spent doing his entire adult life. He also loved being out on the boat on Lake Koshkonong with his family and friends. He absolutely loved Chicago Style Italian Beefs and Hot Dogs!
He is survived by his wife, Jeri; his 2 children, Andy Byrd, and Cindy (Ryan) Heine, both of Janesville; his 2 beloved grandsons, Dale and James Heine, both of Janesville; his Dad, George R. Byrd, of Schaumburg, IL; his brothers and sister, Kathy (Deron) Srednicki, of McHenry, IL, Dan Byrd, of Wauconda, IL, John (Denise) Byrd, of Bartlett, IL, George (Maggie Eisman) Byrd, of Rolling Meadows, IL, and Tim Byrd, also of Wauconda, IL; his brother and sister in-law, John (Deb) Wente, of Virginia, and Jayne (Hal) Staffeldt, of Arkansas; his longtime dear friend, Mike Lazarus, of Janesville; and by many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his Mom, Mary Lee Byrd.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, with Rev. Naomi Garber officiating. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the FUNERAL HOME.
