Pat Walbaum, age 57, of Elkhorn died on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. He was born in Elgin, IL on September 25, 1961, the son of Forrest D. Walbaum II and Ingrid K. (Strempel) Walbaum. Pat graduated from Viroqua High School. On September 17, 2016, in his mother’s back yard, Pat married Gretchen A. Sturtevant. Over the years, Pat was a volunteer firefighter, paramedic and worked as a medical administrator for an occupational health agency, where he oversaw the safety and health programs for Zenith. Following his passion, he opened his own company, “Specialty Wood Products” creating specialized habitat designs for taxidermists. Pat loved working with taxidermists and would personally deliver his wood products. Delivering his products gave him and his wife the opportunity to travel coast to coast together. He loved fishing, being on the water, and the outdoors.
Pat lived his life with Christian and Humane values, always helping the homeless and others less fortunate without seeking acknowledgement. He also put other’s needs before his own. Pat was a very loving, caring and compassionate person and cherished his relationships with his friends and family. He was an avid and lifelong Bears fan. When Patrick’s health began to decline, he never complained, even when he was in severe pain. He lived by the saying; “It is what it is” while at the same time keeping everyone around him in good spirits.
He is survived by his wife: Gretchen; son: Christiaan Walbaum; mother: Ingrid Kay Johnson of Janesville; siblings: Forrest (Christine) Walbaum, Wayne (Leigh Ann) Walbaum, Michelle (Darrin) Dreqne, Pauline (Brandt) Hopman, David (Darlene) Walbaum and Kenneth (Jan) Johnson; father-in-law: Dixon (Alana) Sturtevant, beloved nephews and nieces, as well as other family and friends.
Pat was predeceased by his father: Forrest Walbaum II; step-father: Robert Johnson; mother in law: Judi Sturtevant and brother: Randy Johnson.
