Norman Lloyd Phillips, 87, of Janesville, died February 13, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home in Janesville.

He was born April 8, 1932 in Lena, Illinois to the late Lloyd A. and Agnes R. (Retzlaff) Phillips. He attended Lena-Winslow Schools. Norman served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. In his young adult years Norman loved racing cars with his brother, Jerry. He married the love of his life, Barbara Jean (Pepperman) Phillips She preceded him in death on September 18th, 1977. They had 2 children, Laurie
and Jeffrey. Jeffrey passed away at the age of 50 in 2014.
Norman lived in Rockford for the majority of his adult life. He worked for J. I. Case Company and Berol Ltd., both in Rockford, IL He moved to Janesville in the mid-nineties. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, music, karaoke and going to dances. He was a long time member of the Moose Lodge in Janesville. He loved tinkering with things. If something was broken he was the guy who could fix it.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Barbara; his son Jeffrey Wayne Phillips; his brothers, Emerson Phillps and Jerry (Louella ) Phillips, and his sister, Ester (James) Chatt. Norman is survived by his daughter, Laurie (Don) Hoesly; grandson, Sheldon Lloyd Phillips; several nieces and nephews and his long time dear friend, Doris Condon, of Janesville.
Due to the restrictions placed on the community from the Coronavirus outbreak, a public Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
